Sliding
Table for the Preac 4 x 6" Micro-Precision Table Saw
The sliding table for the Preac Table Saw was developed
for the model maker who has a need to crosscut wood up to 4" wide and wants more
support for longer pieces of wood on either side of the blade.
The Sliding Table supplied with a stop system, enables
duplicates parts to be cut to extremely close tolerances. Additional 8-32 holes are
provided so fabricated fixtures can be attached for angles or special projects.
There are stops on the Sliding Table to prevent it from being
pushed too far forward or back so the blade will not cut through the table. The unit
is guided from below to prevent it from tipping.
To use the Sliding Table, remove the saw shirt and lower the
blade. Remove the rear stop screw. Slide the unit onto the saw and move to the
rear position and screw in the rear stop to prevent the table from being pulled too far
forward. The front stop is already in position. Raise the blade.
The table can also be adjusted to be square by loosening the
rear socket cap screw and the front flat head screw with the hex key provided, and
aligning with a square against the blade and front bar. Retighten the screws.
Make a trial cut on a scrap piece of wood and make any minor adjustments necessary.
When first using the Sliding Table with the blade set at the
highest position, slowly slide the table to the rear and front positions with the stop
screws in position so the blade may remove any excess aluminum in the blade slot due to
slight variations in the saw table and sliding table. This will not hurt the blade
as they are initially made to cut metal.
The sliding table can be used on the 6 x 10" saw by
removing the lower guides. Table size: 6 1/2 x 10". Depth of cut:
1/4"
Auxiliary Tilting Table
The Preac Auxiliary Tilting Table was developed to bevel
or cut angles up to 45 degrees on the side or edge of planks or strips of wood. The
use the Auxiliary table, remove the miter gauge *"T" Guide) and existing fence
from the saw table. Remove the saw skirt and lower the blade. Then, slide the
table onto the saw table either left or right of the blade. Loosen the two 8-32 cap
screws at the front and back of the auxiliary table, set the desired angle with a
protractor and retighten the two screws. Raise the blade and slide the unit as close
to the blade as possible without touching and lock it into position using the the knurled
screw.
The guide may be set for the width of the wood being cut.
The the guide further away from the blade toward the rear to prevent binding.
Use the thickest blade available (.040" to .057") to prevent blade
deflection. Material should be fed slowly through while holding against the guide.
It is always best to have the material cut to the proper width before beveling.
Once you have mastered the use of this attachment, you be able
to cut clean, smooth, accurate angles, and edge bevels with a minimum of effort.

Vertical Support for T-Guide
The Vertical Support for the T-Guide is used to hold large or wide pieces of wood
upright against the T-Guide (Miter Gauge) for notching and mortising the ends or edges.
It can also be adapted to make finger or box joints and hinges. The support
is tapped for three 4-40 screws (supplied) to attach holding fixtures for special projects
such as a ratcheting arrangement for cutting multi-sided parts. The support is
attached inn place of the top bar of the "T" Guide with the screw provided.

Vertical Fence Guide
The plates for the Vertical Fence Guide attach to the moveable fence and are used
to guide large or wide pieces in a vertical position for making slots and grooves on the
edges of parts. Tongue and groove and other joints can be cut to join pieces of wood
together and for fabricating raised panel doors. The guide is available in two
heights - 1/2" and 3/4" with a mounting block that mounts to the fence in place
of the stop block.

Aux. 45 degree T-Guide Assembly
The Auxiliary Top Bar for the T-Guide is manufactured with a 45 degree angle on one
end to facilitate setting the bar at a 45 degree angle so as to get as close to the blade
as possible when cutting the material. It can be sued in either direction or turned
around and used as a standard T Guide. The top bar may be purchased separately to be
used with the lower bar that is provided with the saw, or as an assembly of both the top
and bottom bar so that it may be left set as 45 degrees for continued use. For
cutting wide pieces of material the T Guide may be reversed and the material used to push
the T Guide.

Blade Elevating Screw
Though the
blade height can normally be adjusted by hand, the Blade Elevating Screw is used to
make fine adjustments of the depth of cut of the blade. To use this attachment,
place the unit under the head of the screw that holds the spindle assembly to the quill
plate and turn the red knob until it touches the screw head, Loosen the two pivot
screws and raise or lower the spindle assembly by turning the red knob and holding the
body of the unit. Slight pressure downward on the spindle assembly may be necessary
in lowering the blade. Retighten the pivot screw and remove the elevating screw when
running the saw. One quarter turn of the screw raises the blade 0.009".

Adjusting Screw for Fence
To use the
adjusting screw for the fence, remove the screw that attaches the blade guard unit to the
table. Take the longer cap screw that is supplied with the unit, place this screw
through the hole in the Adjusting Screw Arm, through the blade guard arm and the bushing
and reattach to the table with adjusting screw just above the table top. The unit is
now ready to use. To move the fence toward the blade, loosen the fence locking knob
and turn the adjusting screw clockwise. To move the fence away from the blade, back
off the screw the required amount measuring the distance you want to move with a feeler
gauge or caliper and slide the fence to touch the screw and tighten the locking
knob. 1/8 turn moves the fence 0.004".

Taper Attachment
The Taper Attachment is used to make angled rip cuts along the side of a piece of
material as in making tapered legs or tapering a plank for a ship model. The
material is placed against the Taper Attachment (having been set at the proper angle with
a protractor) and banked against the stop. The attachment and part being cut are
slid together along the fence and past the blade. Always use a push stick to
hold the material against the Taper Attachment to keep the fingers clear of the blade.
Before cutting the material make sure the attachment does not make contact with the
blade.

"T" Guide Stop
System
The "T" Guide Stop System is used to cut identical lengths
of material. Lengths can be duplicated to a few thousands of an inch and is
adjustable to cut pieces up to 6 1/2" long. The stop bar is mounted to the
bottom bar of the existing "T" Guide with the flat head screw provided.
